Street Stories: Oakland in Focus [On View Now]
Curated by Pablo Circa and Essi Westerman
Oakland in Focus is a group photo exhibition featuring the work of 39 photographers.
Each participant was invited to submit a single image, with one simple guideline: it had to be made in Oakland.
The result is a diverse mix of perspectives. Some are deeply personal, others quietly observational, all capturing fragments of a city.
Street Stories is both a celebration of Oakland and an honest reflection on a place many of us call home, used to call home, or have simply passed through.

BASED [On View Now]
Organized by Common AREA Maintenance
“Based means being yourself and staying positive, not letting people change you. Based is also being confused—It’s about the evolution of the human race. How can we evolve together? What are the humans doing?”
–Lil B, Based God
Based is for the artist themselves and asks them to take part in a dialogue that centers the creator as a genuine star rather than a consumer product.
Bringing together artists from the Bay Area and Seattle, the theme is open-ended in that based is a positive and a negative. It's about being 1000% yourself—unapologetically you, in your own lil head. Silly and stupid. Down-right ignorant.
Artists are asked to explore what it means to be Based by making a work solely for their own amusement and self-fulfilment, unneeding of audience or outside approval.
